The MBTI assesses your personality on 4 different areas. The first pairing assesses how you obtain your energy (introversion or extroversion). The second pairing assesses how you obtain information (senses or intuition). The third pairing assesses how you make decisions (thinker or feeler) and the fourth pairing assesses how you live – organized or spontaneous (judger or perceiver). You are to first look over the document posted in week 5 titled MBTI preferences. Explore each pairing and make a prediction in each of the 4 areas as to which one you feel best describes your personality. You should end up with a 4 letter typology. Example: In pairing 1 are you an Extrovert(E) or Introvert (I). In pairing 2 are you a sensor (S) or an intuitor (N). In pairing 3 are you a thinker (T) or feeler (F) and in pairing 4 are you a judger (J) or perceiver (P). Remember that being a judger does not mean you judge others – rather it means that you are very organized.
After you have your 4 letter typology please go to www.similarminds.com. In the upper left of the screen click on personality tests. Then on the next screen in the middle click on full test archive list. On the next screen on the right side under Jung tests you will click on the one titled Short test (60 items). Take the assessment and you will be given a 4 letter typology with percentages.
Compare this typology with the one you predicted.
How accurate did you find this assessment? What are you using to make this statement?
Which areas did you predict accurately and which ones were different? Discuss these results. (for example you may have been torn as to whether you were a thinker or feeler and chose feeler but the results are 50/50 thinker/ feeler so your prediction was not incorrect)
How could a coach use this assessment for himself/herself or for the players on the team?
Now find the overall description of your typology on the document titled MBTI types. Discuss whether this description fits your evaluation of your personality.
