Discussion 2
Nationalism is forming a country with people with the same language, culture, and ethnic backgrounds. As a result, they were not too happy with outsiders who were of a different background/ethnicity, which caused racism. One of the primary factors in the Early 19th century to identify ethnical backgrounds would be by race. This ideology inspired Social Darwinism, which is the idea that one particular race was far more superior to the other, which caused competition between various races for domination. Nationalism also promoted racial purity, the idea that outside races were unpure and should not be mixed with `approved` races. This idea sparked the Holocaust and other racial cleansing activities. This, along with politics, made people have an alternative thinking about the importance of race. As a result, one primary form of racism began with the hostility against Jews. This sparked a Zionist movement in which Theodor Herzl formed to combat Europe`s anti-semitism views.
