Good evening, class!
To begin with, each of these steps are crucial to the defense of a system. Each serves a purpose that is just as important as the last for the most part. However, what I consider to be the most crucial part of the process is the very first part. Without the Incident Identification, there is nothing else to be done. One must be able to determine that there is a problem and what it is before one can do anything about it. Containment could be argued for a close second but not everything is trying to move from one system to the next. Investigation can not happen if there is nothing to investigate. So on and so forth. Incident Identification is the most important simply due to the fact that the only reason the others even happen is because the first one did.
